Default Brake Fluid-

Cap says use DOT 3-however I've been told to use DOT 5 due to my (ahem) spirited driving habits. Any advice?

BTW if you need better fluid because you are hard on your brakes then you can move up to a racing fluid that has better wet and dry boiling points.

I run ATE Super Blue Racing fluid with Racing Brake Pads and never experience brake fade.

I would think though Valvoline Synthetic Dot 3-4 is good enough for most street driving even some aggressive driving.

Make sure to bleed your entire system when putting new in.....

Get off the DOT 5 and use a quality(hi wet boiling point) fluid like Motul. I don't know of any of the track guys who would even consider using DOT 5 and the car would probably be rejected in tech inspeciton if it were know that DOT 5 was in use.

Never DOT 5. Only Dot 3 or DOT4.

Dot 5 is silicone based and does not lubricate teh ABS system. and when water gets into the brake system if forms little bubbles and foams up when hot. Your bakes go . . . . . and you in your car go

Buy a DOT 3 and DOT 4 product. these borated esters have higher boiling poiints and absorb less water..
For price and availability you cannot beat Valvoline Synpower

away because the DOT 5 bubbled and compressed, we need an emoticon of a smiley head taking a dump, not banging his head.
