I'm about to replace the tires on my '99 roadster. Currently I'm using the original runflats on polished OEM '00 wheels. I'm considering upsizing to 295/35-18 Goodyear F1-GSD3s on the rear...Does anyonone know if these will fit correctly?
This subject has come up here a lot. Many people will tell you that a 295/35-18 tire will fit fine on the stock Y2k rims (9.5" wide).
I look at it this way...
GM's interest is maximizing profit margin, consistent with providing a safe vehicle. There has to be a reason they provided 10.5" wheels for that size on the Z06. Also look at what the tire mfg says. Remember that their interest is in selling tires. They don't do that by telling you that a combination of tire/wheel is incompatible if it's not. Note that they recommend 10" as the minimum wheel diameter to mount this tire: http://www.goodyeartires.com/goodyea...8&sidewall=VSB
Caveat emptor - you decide.

This is the closest pic I have of the rear tire...hope it'll do On a side note, the fronts are too big (275's).
They were on the car when I bought it. They're too wide and tall looks wise. If I had the spare $$, I would replace them.
Andrew,
They will fit, although "correctly" is subject to debate/interpretation. I would simply opine that the 295 tire width is not optimal for a 9.5" wheel width.

Ive been running 315's on my C4 9.5" rims for over 12 years.
I have the same tires your looking at now. 315's stick out quite a bit from the rim, but I have not had any problems with the tire/rim set up.

Thanks!
I'm not for sure which they were...they were like that when I bought the car, which was nice cause I wanted to paint or powdercoat them anyways.

I also had 315 35 17's on a 9.5 inch rims on my old 96 Vette...... I SCCA aotocrossed the crap out of them in VERY hard turns and spinouts and NEVER poped a bead!!!!

Obviosuly, not hard enough....
And the added benefit is that you've probably never scraped a rim on a curb.
Thanks for the input, guys. I ended up switching gears and going for Nitto NT555s in the factory sizes. Should have them tomorrow...I'll share some feedback once they're on.
