I had a bad throttle position sensor and tac module that had set some of the same codes. Had to get both of them replace. Some of my wires behind my intake got pinched and shorted both out.
The 1638 needs to be turned off in the pcm, I'm suprsied you haven't set one for the "L" field also (like 1639). I'd look at the driver side head and block ground wires.:o

If you interrogate the DIC you should find codes. Once you get codes it gets you on track. I had similiar problem after LS2 TB install.

I remember that last year you crushed the wires behind the motor while installing the clutch setup? Maybe that has something to do with it
ya i squashed the big wire harness over the driveline but had that fixed, mmmmm i hope that isnt wrecked again, hopefully its something small im overlooking
Did it start this after the cam install? When does it going into reduced power mode? It sounds like the etc predicted airflow is high enough in the computer. I had this happen to me after I put my cam in. Its table {C6101} in efi live.

it started before this cam install. i had a different cam in last year and it went into limp a few times , but its going into limp mode alot more often now. the car goes into limp at any time, cruising, goofing off, it doesnt matter

you have a PM, had this exact same problem a while ago.... EXACT SAME problem.. take apart your throttle body, it might be sludged up and the drive by wire motor might not have enough umph to control it.. mine was all corroded and gross... cleaned it out and helped a ton, also check the wires, not the plug itself... the dude who replaced both sounds like he got took by the stealership and just had a bad wire..
