I'm in the process of changing my heads, cam and intake. While I was taking the passenger side head off I noticed a small plastic vacuum line going inside the big harness bolted to the back of the passenger side head. I did not unplug this line so it must have come disconnected when I was removing the intake, or it wasn't connected to anything. Where does this line go?
I have a piece of rubber tubing attached to it. The stock "straw" is black hard plastic which attaches to the small rubber elbow on the back of your intake manifold. However, I don't know where the other end of that straw goes after it dips behind the engine.
[QUOTE=vette747]This is to open and closed the HVAC AC doors.
I "extended" mine on both cars (learned from the 1st) with some additional line (approx. 4") so I could hook it up before sliding the manifold back in place. It is a PITA to hook up once the intakle is back!

Will this cause a rough idle if there is a problem with it???
Meaning if there was a leak in the line or if the line was disconnected... yes very possible... you would have false air entering the intake, meaning air that the PCM can't see through the MAF sensor.... I've see the intake bellows/accordian tube after the maf has a small tear in it and it would cause the car to run rough.. and sometimes the rough condition would come and go supraticly since the tube was flexing...

But that is NOTHING compared to language which shall emanate from the passenger compartment upon discovering the AC she's a no work. Some may be able to reach this *^#%@( tube after you put the (*&^#% manifold back on the &%(*^#$ engine but my hands are too (*^&#%^ big to do it.
I haven't had any problems w/ my extension. I made it just long enough as you can see in my picture via the link above in my post. When I push the manifold into position there is no kinking/leaking. I've had it like this for over 3 months, no problem.
My 98 had the HVAC quit working and I traced it down to that fitting coming off the intake. Man talk about a pain in the *** to get back on. A mirroe, lond needle nose plires and lots of cursing but I got it back on. YES,,, I added an extension hose!!!
Here are some more pics fr=or your files! Isave them all!!!
As other here has said that hose goes to the vacuum reservoir tank in the right fender well. Here is a photo of the tank and hoses, the manifold hose enters at the bottom.

I believe you are in the running for the thread resurrection award this week......18 years old ! ...........but.....what does your fuel sending unit issue have to do with the intake manifold vacuum hose?
