Default 110 Octane Racing Fuel Question

Has anyone ever used 110 octane racing fuel on ther supercharged Corvette just for a track day. I have a Z06 with a Magnacharger, Kooks header system, Corsa, Blackwing. Thanks for any input.

PCM needs to be tuned for 110. If you dont your just waisting your money.

and that is 110 unleaded, not 110 leaded

I believe that that is the leaded fuel?

It is leaded fuel.

Are you sure the PCM needs to be tuned in order to see a performance gain?

Yes, unless your previous tune was too aggressive for the fuel you were running and caused timing to get pulled.

Running leaded fuel is a bad idea.

Why not just go with an ECS Meth kit?

Basically if you car is not knocking with the gas you normally use, it will never know it is getting race fuel.

Default 110 racing fuel

Leaded fuel will screw up your O2 sensors and cats if you are running them. Stay away from it.

octane in gasoline is a combustion inhibitor. Octane does the exact opposite of what nitromethane does to alcohol based fuel

Some tracks sell unleaded race gas. I think it's usually purple in color.

I say go for it, and put a smaller pulley on your blower. If your seeing alot of KR, just put the regular pulley back on the SC and dial in 3* of timing.

The highest octane LEADED fuel I've seen is 100 octane (here in California, anyway).

more boost, higher compression, and advancing the timing make power. Running higher octane gas allows you do that. If your car is running fine on the gas you've got in it now and you don't change anything other than the gas, the only performance benefit is the weight loss from your wallet

The only way too see more power from racefuel is to advance your timing. You can use it for insurance against detonation if your tune is on the hairy edge on hot days.

PS... do not use leaded fuel... unless you want to replace cats and o2 sensors

Adding a couple gallons of 100 to half tank of 93 may benefit you. It'll prevent KR, and keep the car running more consistant at the track.

Default Street legal VP Racing Fuel

Have you ever tried the new VP fuel called StreetBlaze? It is legal and safe for all street vehicles.

Some people know of it as "Motorsport or MS" VP fuel.

3 different types available up to 103 octane.

The best stuff you can put in a performance car or bike and still be safe with O2 sensors and catalytic converters.

Pump gas is about the worst fuel made. Dirty, watery, sometimes even rusty, and usually old fuel. You spend all that money tricking up your car but you put the most horrible thing you can put in any combustion engine.... pump gas. Why do you think cars come with fuel filters? Because your fuel tank is dirty? Nope. Because the fuel itself is horribly dirty.

I run race fuel in my motocross bike (totally stock engine) and it performs way better than on pump gas. I have had it on a DYNO at I get about 6% more and smoother power on the correct race gas vs. pump gas.

Some VP fuels can give you close to 14% more power than pump gas. Try getting that kind of extra power spending the thousands you do on your car.

Remember, just because it is classified as Race Gas, it is not only about octane. VP makes about 70 different fuels for all kinds of motors and applications.

If you drag race, autocross, road race, or just want more power, you need to look into this.

All of VP's unleaded fuels are designed for racing applications, but VP offers several street-legal fuel options that also will help generate optimum power and performance in any high performance automotive application.

StreetBlaze Series — The StreetBlaze series is VP's newest family of fuels specifically engineered for high-performance street cars, including sport compacts, muscle cars, street rods and more. In 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder applications or engines equipped with a turbo charger, supercharger or nitrous oxide system (NOS), these oxygenated fuels will generate optimum power and performance. In turbocharged or supercharged applications, StreetBlaze fuels allow an increase in boost without fear of detonation. NOS users can also leverage their higher octane ratings to step up to a more powerful nitrous oxide system. These fuels contain no metal compounds and won't harm catalytic converters or oxygen sensors.

STREETBLAZE 100
Oxygenated with ethanol, this CARB-legal fuel is well-suited for high-performance street cars. It's environmentally friendly and street legal throughout the U.S. Dyno tests with a turbocharged application proved StreetBlaze 100 generates 14% more horsepower compared to premium grade 91 octane unleaded gasoline. It allows more advanced timing and increased boost in turbo and super-charged applications. Designed for use in cast-iron head engines with CRs up to 13:1 and aluminum head engines up to 14:1. Works well on the latest generation of electronically-controlled turbo engines.

• Color: Orange
• Oxygenated: Yes
• Motor Octane: 96
• R+M/2: 100
• Specific Gravity: .746 at 60° F

STREETBLAZE 101
Will work well in the same applications as StreetBlaze 100, with comparable power increases. Not universally street legal as it's oxygenated with MTBE, which is prohibited in some states (see below).

• Color: Orange
• Oxygenated: Yes
• Motor Octane: 99
• R+M/2: 101
• Specific Gravity: .800 at 60° F

STREETBLAZE 103
The highest octane unleaded street legal fuel in the U.S. Provides power and protection equal to some leaded racing fuels. Allows even more aggressive timing and higher compression -- up to 14:1 in cast-iron head engines and up to 15:1 with aluminum heads. Typically allows turbo engines to increase boost from the stock 8-10 lbs. to 20-25 lbs. Not universally street legal due to MTBE (see below).

Although StreetBlaze 101 and 103 are street legal in many states, local and state regulations should be consulted to ensure compliance in your particular area before using on the street. VP has not conducted a nationwide search to ensure compliance in all states and local areas. VP also encourages its customers to obey all traffic and safety laws, as well as confine racing activities to the track using appropriate safety gear.

• Color: Red
• Oxygenated: Yes
• Motor Octane: 99
• R+M/2: 103
• Specific Gravity: .743 at 60° F

Check into it. If you are really into performance, you should use performance oriented fuel as well. Not overboard on octane though. Just clean burning, crystal clear fuel that is made for what we all want, a better running engine.

Default VP Racing Fuel Dealer

You guessed it. I am a VP Dealer. But I'm not trying to sell you anything. Heck, we can't ship fuel anyway. Costs too much to do that.

I did want you to know there are options on fuel for your street car.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
