Tranny Temp @ 234* - Help!
My 2000 Automatic tranny temp is at 234 on the highway...how normal is this? Also, could someone explain to me how to change the tranny fluid...or at least how much I should expect to pay to have it done.

Mine rarely goes much above 200 but I live in a cooler place than Texas (SF Bay area). However, make sure your torque converter is locking up. At about 50 mph, you should be able to add a little throttle or lighten up and the rpm's should not change at all.

Had the same problem here with my 2000 a4 with 32000 miles. It started out by having high transmission temps and hard shifting. Then I started getting the check engine light with the 1870 code. A guy at my local transmission shop took it for a ride and scanned the car at the same time and figured out that my torque conv. is slipping and causing the high temps. Flushing out ($99) may or may not have prevented this from happening but now I need a tranny overhaul ($2100). Of course I'm going back in with all new heavy duty parts to hold up to at least another 150 HP gain for future mods
