Default Considering next mods...Advise Needed

I've had my Vette a while now, and it's been a two years since I installed the Vararam/Exhaust. I always been relatively content w/ the performance but w/ 300hp Dodge Econobox's (Caliber), Evo's, Subarus, and Neons...my 7 year old Vette is starting to feel the heat.

I don't track the car, but would like to add some hp to have in reserve *just in case*. I don't want anything radical, I would say comperable to a C5 Z06, or slightly above that. I also don't want to affect it's streetability or mild demeanor when driving w/ a lighter foot. I would go further, but I know more hp = more parts breaking and don't want my car to be a money pit, or drastically change the way it feels.

So all of that said, what should be my next move? I know headers and a tune would help...but what would get my car to right around the Z06 level? LS6 conversion? AFR?

Aside from headers and a tune....whats my next move?

Well after the header install and the tune, the things that are next is going to be a cam (mild) or like an after market intake manifold and throttle body. U can a mild cam that will not affect driving and all that but put u up near the ZO6's. I got a big cam and hoping to shoot over 400 hp. I should with the LT's and the tune. I already made good power (see sig) with just intake and exhaust. Well good luck!!

Thanks guys....my cars a manual, so gears might be a good option.

Any input on a LS6 conversion? Is it worth it?

I would do headers, LS6 intake manifold if you don't have one, a ported throttle body and a professional dyno tune. If your not satisfied the next progression is usually a cam and an UDP while they have it open.

I had all the same goals as you do, plus I wanted my wife to still feel comfortable driving the car. In the end I went with the VHP 056 cam, 216/224 0.551/0.551 115 LSA and a set of Dart heads. I also did Morel lifters and a Katech timing chain with the GMPP timing chain damper. I wanted really high quality parts and reliability as well. There are numerous combinations you can go with obviously, and the AFR heads you mentioned would be a good option as well. The cam I selected has a stock idle and comes on very low in the RPM range so the power is always there, it is also done by 5,900 RPM and the curve goes flat, another desireable trait I wanted because I didn't want to raise the rev limited in order to get the power. Your goals are easily achieved with the right parts selection. If you go with the AFR heads, AFR also makes a matching cam that has consistantly been a winning combination.
