I recently completed my BLACKWING install with the "ice box" cover and opening the shroud beneath the filter. I had not driven the car since the completion last weekend.
We took the Z16 out for a breakfast run this a.m. The car ran normally in stop and go driving for about 20 miles. As I was merging from the on ramp, I accelerated to the speed limit and shifted briskly. I never got above the posted speed limit.
The check engine light came on almost immediately, but I noticed no serging or other symptoms. When I got home I checked for codes, finding some history codes only. There were no new codes. Is this a normal occurance...FM?
It's probably running lean. That happened to me too, brought it to my local tuner, Vette Doctors, and they took care of it. Good luck and Happy Vetting!!
Running a bit lean makes sense with the BLACKWING and "ice box" cover now installed...I was under the impression the C5/Z06 cars ran fairly rich from the factory. I figured the improved air flow would even out the AFR and/or the computer would make adjustments within its parameters.
I did clear the codes but won't be able to take it out until next weekend to check it again...thanks for the replies. Nearest tuner is 150 miles away in the "Valley of the Damned".
