I just installed a set of headers, and now my airbag light is on. It never illuminated before this. I'm not sure what could have happened during to install to set this off. The steering shaft was disconnected during the install, but I'm not sure if it's related to this problem. Any ideas?
if the steering wheel was turned with the shaft disconnected the sir coil (clock spring) could have been damaged. Check the codes, if its the clock spring it should set a code for the clock spring.

I agree with that... Check codes and see what is being flagged...

Good call. The steering wheel was turned with the shaft disconnected, and now the car's throwing code B0026. Where is the clock spring located? How much does a new one cost and how difficult is it to replace?

It's behind the steering wheel, the wheel must be pulled to replace it.. as for cost not sure... I would check with a dealer... as I'm not sure it's availble aftermarket...

Wow. That sounds like a fun job. Now I get to pull the steering wheel. Yippee!
I found this picture in a search. Is the clock spring visible in this shot? I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. Also, does a broken clock spring mean there's a chance the airbag will explode while I'm driving?
That's it right there... the round thind with the YELLOW wire... the coil or spring whatever you want to call it is inside the plastic.. you service it as a unit..
As for the air bag going off because the clock spring maybe broken... doubtful... I've seen a few get broken before and people drive with it like that sometimes.. not safe though as the air bag will not work...
