You found a tech that knows something and gives a rats a$$ about what he is doing! Most of us have techs that don't know a,,,, well you get the drift!!

I was lucky that it only took an hour. There are some people who have been charged way more than that. Hell, I one dealer ship, the service manager told me that it could NOT be accomplished and that the sensors wouldn't even fit in the rims!!!!!! i walked him out to the car and showed him the sensor stems, the packages that they came in and the procedure for programming the sensors. His reply was " those arnt TPM stems! They look like every other C5 corvette tire stem! I asked him if I could talk to the tech and show him the procedure. He said NO but if I left it he would call GM and see if it could be accomplished!

So,,,,feel very lucky that you can have a good working relationship with the tech and the dealer even allows you to go back in the shop area and talk with him! A lot of us don't get that luxury!!!

Thanks for hearing me vent!!

On the bright side,, i have recently have found TWO dealers in my area that are C5 and C6 corvette knowledgeable and corvette owner friendly!!

Dworkin Chevy and Champaign Chevy!!!

Bill,
I feel for 'ya. Having a good mechanic ranks right up there with a friendly plumber or electrician. My local dealer Grimm Chevrolet in Morton, IL takes pretty good care of us local vette guys. Sadly, they are almost an anachronism in this day and age insofar as they are helpful and pretty straightforward. It helps that the service manager is a gearhead at heart and drives a Z06 himself (my previous one in fact ). They have no problem letting me back in the shop, and I am careful not to be a PITA or abuse the privilege.

I regularly forward him threads from here that I think he may find informative, and he is receptive to knowing what's happening in the whole 'vette scene.

Even the sales end of the dealership is pretty cool. Several years ago when Z06s were hot commodities, a fellow from CT. was bemoaning that all his local dealers were trying to screw him to the wall in his quest for a mod red/TR Z06, and he was looking outside the New England area to find one. It just so happened that Grimm had just received one and it was on the showroom floor. I PM'ed him and told him they had one if he was interested. To make a long story short, Grimm gave him a good deal, he and his wife flew here to pick it up and drove it home. Turned out the fellow had a business with a small fleet of trucks, and he told Grimm they'd have his business for those too. Funny the way things work out, eh?
If you want to move to central IL (we have soybeans, corn and Caterpillar), I'll give you a personal introduction
