Default Battery Mount

I'm getting ready to replace my AC Delco with an Optima (Super-Deluxe ACME Flame Suit on). Will this new battery use the factory hold down or do I need to use the plastic mounting tray that comes with the Optima ?? Much thanks....

When I installed mine, the plastic thing ended up on the floor. The factory mount worked fine.

There are varying opinions on these batteries, but all I can say is that it fixed my problem. I can go 4-6 weeks now without having a problem starting the car, before with the Delco battery, I was lucky if I got 10 days. I have bought a tender anyhow since no battery likes to get completely discharged and I have read the Optimas are even worse.

I did not use the plastic tray but I did use the hold down piece that came with the Optima instead of the factory hold down.

There's a lip on the battery tray. Make sure the battery tucks under and it should clamp down with the OEM bracket. I've also tried it with the tray and that works fine too.

My OPTIMA red top (COSTCO) mounted up fine with oem hold down assembly ('04 Z16). Only issue is that the dual terminal battery requires the top cables to be angled slightly to clear the side mounts.

Didn't use the bottom tray but you need to use the hold down that came with the battery. My red top has worked great. You can also get cover for it that cleans up the battery.
