04 ZO6 Diff vs 02 Coupe M6 Diff?
I remembered seeing some one post that the ZO6 had a hardened diff and the coupe M6 is not hardened. I know they are both 3:42 but can anyone tell me if they ARE ACTUALLY DIFFERENT? Thank you in advance.

Only difference is one has shotpeened gears and the other does not.
Z06 rear has the shotpeened gears (i.e. a little stronger gears) nothing else different.

also. You may notice a slightly lower rpm in 6th gear @ 80mph cruise with the M6.

Thanks, if given the choice, is it worth it to do a swap between the two if I'm putting down 650RWHP? Would it be safer?

Tony covered the sp gears
, Safer? no, the next step would be swapping in a diff from DTE and adding a trans brace, I've seen a couple cars at the track snap output shafts

Confirm this with DTE but I also believe that in 04 they strengthened the case. Their web site states that only 04 cases will be used for their Stage V differential due to a third rib being added.
