Lots of guys run 18" or 19" all the way around. Some run 18 / 19 or 19 / 20 combos.

You need to look at the tire information. See link below.

http://michelinman.com/specs/pilot_sport/97.html

Scroll to the bottom of the link and you'll see what I am talking about.

The rears should be at least a 1/2 inch (.5) taller in overall diameter than the fronts.

I run (F) 275/19/35 (26.6") and (R) 295/19/35 (27.1")

Hope that helps you figure it out.

No. They must be staggered, that is why you can not rotate tires on a corvette.

The rear tires must have an overall diameter of at least 1/2" greater than fronts.

Mine are (F) 26.6 and (R) 27.1 in overall diameter. They can not be the exact same tire. They be of the same size 17, 18, 19, 20, etc.

The wider the tire in the same tire height the taller.

No. It only applies to C5's with active handling.

Not true. They can be the same diameter. I ran my 97 and now my 03Z for several hundred miles on several weekends each year with the same diameter tires (25.3 inches) front and rear.

Haven't heard of anyone but road racers doing this and they turn off AH.

How do you turn off active handling? I was only able to turn off traction control to make it drivable.

I have run with and without AH. I use 17 x 9.5 wheels in the front and 17 x 11 in the rear. Tires are 275/40 in front and 315/35 in the rear. Tire diameter front and rear is 25.3 (mfg's spec). The TC may trigger a little more quickly when spinning the rear wheels but that isn't a problem since we turn off TC when autocrossing or running around a track.

Your car may not have Active Handling. 97s did not have AH and it was optional through 2000. If you have it you will have a JL4 option code listed in your list of options on the glove compartment door or the rear left storage compartment lid.

All C5's were not created equal. Some earlier models did not have AH as it was an option. It was not until 2001 that it became standard on the C5.

You can check vehicle if equipped "JL4". Manufacturing codes are in glove box or in rear cubby holes depending on date of manufacture.

If you have AH. Press and hold the button on the center console (have all door closed) and you will get message that you're turning off traction and AH, hold it for a couple more seconds and it will go into competive mode.
