I'm new to the Vette world so I don't knowwhat a lot of the abbreviations stand for. What are ZO6 Tis?

Anyone want to Pmme a list of the abbreviations that are used onhere for things pertaining to Vettes?

Thanks, Marshall

I don't have a comprehesive list, but's it's pretty easy to figure out once you get in the swing of things. Ti, is the abbreviation for Titanium. This will apply to exhaust components as well as valve train items, such as Ti retainers, etc.

Once before when this subject came up about the Borla dron, someone had called Borla and was told they had not developed anything for the previous Stingers. I think they mentioned a new design for newer Borla Stingers. So by now they may have something out to aid in this problem by now.
Good luck..

Has anyone tried the Borla resonators with their Stingers? They're the resonators that replace the stock H-pipe and go with Borlas over axle straight pipes. That might solve the problem if you can find them at a resonable price.

You can insulate the car, shield the tunnel, etc, but if you really don't want the drone then ditch the Borlas.

I have this same system. No drone. nada. Just sweet music. If you sell those Stingers I might be interested for my other car that has Bullets and a very annoying drone.

FYI - Z06 Tis = Titanium exhaust which GM provided on 01+ zo6 vettes. They're lighter by a bit than the stock stainless ones and seem to be a good combo when adding a set of headers

My thoughts on the drone issues - Please don't take this the wrong way but with all the threads posted about people having issues with the drone on the stingers wouldn't people have an idea about this going in? Now obviously headers opens the sound up on the car a lot but still...

I've got a set of headers, no cats and a Corsa Pace Car exhaust, no drone, quieter on cruise at highway (ie don't have to yell at the person sitting next to you) but get on it and you can set off riced out civic alarm systems...or so i've heard

On the rear muffler mount, install lock washers between the frame and the hanger, it'll help. Plus it'll cost you less than $2.

PPL want performance exhuast but dont want the noice. Well as duke says opening up the exhuast air flow too allow the car to breath better will make more noise.

Some exhuasts are tuned for certain sounds too. Stingers and BB Loud mouths are louder then straight pipes.

DOnt like the sound, get ear plugs.

Default what you get

All I asked for in the post was to get from people the types of pipes that eliminated the drone. For those who did contribute informative data. For those of you who try to run smoke so be it. A forum is public place for open discussion not for bashing someone. Again those with good info thanks for your input.

I am not sure what you're complaining about.

you got replies from several people telling you what eliminates drone with long tube headers, a titanium exhaust.

I just got out of my quad Stingers and went with Z06 Ti's. Now, no drone, throaty muscular sound, a bit quieter, and lighter.
A lot of posts I've read have folks switching to Z06 TI's after adding headers to Borla Stingers. The Stingers do not have any type of resonance cancelling to them at all.

Good luck!
The Tis would be perfect for no drone, but they're pretty quiet after you've gotten used to Stingers. I went from Stingers to Magnaflow, and although they're heavy, they have the perfect balance of noise level, and a low bass tone. OTOH, I have a nice set of uncut Tis for sale.
I have QTP headers and the Ti, no drone here at all. Also, look for Tony Mamo's test of the different exhausts, with a 480 hp car he lost 3 hp bolting on the Ti's, so the performance is there just not the drone
After the headers were installed, the Stingers just killed me. I swapped out to the factory ZO6 mufflers and all is now perfect. No more drone at all.
I went to the ZO6 Tis from the Borlas to get rid of the drone.
I now have Bassani headers, Magaflow hi-flow cats and X-pipe. This combination sounds great at WOT and nice at cruise without any drone.
ZO6 Tis will get what you want

I was gonna say get a compartment divider but you have a convert. I heard there are thicker Insolated trunk mats that might help.

I have the same problem as stated in the original post. I loved the stingers on my otherwise stock Z. With ARH though, they are LOUD under throttle with LOTS of drone. When I get the tune, I am going to have them put the stock Ti back on for the time being. Hopefully I won't be dissapointed with the sound.

I have read some posts from folks that say the Car Chemistry inserts work well with the LTs and Stinger setup. Good Luck with it.
