I thought I read the Z06 top speed was less than the coupe. That the Z06 top speed aerodynamics had excessive drag because of the short rear glass. And that the coupe with the smoother hatch back had better aerodynamics...Thats why the C6 Z06 is now a hatchback. Helps the race team win Lemans...
Its like 175mph for the coupe and 171 for the Z06...

Yes, their exact argument is which has the higher top speed. One says the coupe, the other says the Z06... BTW, they both own Z06's. Is there any other credable source that has the facts in print...?

M6 coupe: 26.8" rear tires, 0.74:1 trans ratio (5th), 3.42:1 rearend ratio, 6250 redline = gear-limited top speed potential of 196mph.
Actual top speed is 175mph.
Car doesn't have the power to redline 5th.
Z06: 26.1" rear tires, 0.84:1 trans ratio (5th), 3.42:1 rearend ratio, 6500 redline = gear-limited top speed potantial of 176mph.
Actual top speed = 171mph.
Car doesn't quite have the power to redline 5th. Worse aerodynamics than a coupe, and steeper gearing outweigh the higher power and redline advantage.
