Question for you guys. I have a really annoying rattle/clanking. I think I located the noise. Maybe brake related. If i roll forward then back and lift off brake, I get a big clanging noise. Defintiely not normal. It is metal on metal. Could it be a caliper? Or even the trans? I hear it over bumps and when turning. Calipers have 60k miles on them. Sounds like driver rear. Thanks.
Very hard to tell from your description. I would put the car up on stands and check everything that you can see or move. If nothing jumps out at you, pull the wheels and do a closer inspection. Shock mounts,a-arms, sway bar mounts, caliper bolts, etc.
If it's a clanking as opposed to rattling a likely suspect would be a sticking caliper slide pin. You would also, most likely, feel it release as well as hear it. This is assuming the car otherwise handles as you would expect.
If that's the case, the easiest thing is to make like you're changing pads and just make sure you use a good high-temperature anti-seize on the pins and simply not change pads.

What are the pins? The 3 inch long bolts top and bottom? I have had problems with pads in the past. Only stock ones seem to fit. I think Hawk pads are in there now. I think the driver sides pads are moving around.
How well does your parking brake work? Set it, jack up the rear, and try to turn each wheel. If one will oscillate forward and backward, you've found the source of your trouble. On the off-chance that you don't know, the parking brake mechanism is inside the rotor.
or torque tube bushing shot if you go forward reverse and hear clanking without touching the brake.
The parking brake appears to be working properly. It could be the torque tube bushing, but I think it is in the brakes. I hope it is just the pads moving. Years ago had similar problem with new pads, switched to stock ones and it was cured.
