Hey guys I did a search a couldn't find anything on this. I put gas in my C5 today and the door opened fine w/ the release button but wouldn't close. The pin that holds the door wouldn't come out. I used the manual release and it will pop the pin back out and I can close the door fine, but if I use the release button same thing, the pin sticks until I play with the manual release. Does this need to be lubricated? Is there something I'm missing? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like she needs abit of lube, mine did this and also the wires conecting to the switch on the console also come off on mine, very tight spot and if the wire has not clicked all the way in it can fall off mate.
For two seasons, I had to push the electic release button to retract the pin to close my fuel door.
suddenly this summer, it changed and I can close the door without pusihing the release..... go figure????
Thanks so much for this info. No I can trouble shoot my with a little more confidence.
Hi supercharged 350 -
No problem - let me know if you have any questions -
You have about 8 screws to remove the inner fender panel, and then the brake duct will come out (if you have them) and it allows complete access to what you need to get to.
You can even take the plunger "socket" to the hardware store to test fit springs - not a big deal.
I was surprised at how much force the fuel filler door has pushing it open - It would not stay closed even with blue masking tape all over it....
Good luck with your repair - it'll take about an hour including removing the wheel.
I use an 18v drill with a socket adapter to make the job go easier.
