Made 1 - 1/2 pass this past friday night, left pretty hard,(1.45 60') yanked 2nd and sheared off the output shaft in the tranny. When I pulled everything out we also found that the shifter mounts on the torque tube are also broken.
Broken trans mount
This is clearly what happens when you bolt the rear wheels down to the ground and then pop the clutch out at 6K+
Expensive but Come on man you know it was worth it for the launch time not to mention bragging rights. After all you slayed a C5 trans at the shaft Damn man that's some Ponies to the ground for sure...
Brace will not help that. He needs a really good hardened main shaft.
Depends on what broke first.
Case or mounts breaking first would have mis-aligned trans and rear end, stressing the mainshaft.
The wheels have torque in one direction, the diff has equal torque in the other direction, lifting the nose where it's bolted to the trans.
That's where his flange is broken, and that's one of the things the diff brace is designed to prevent by making the trans and diff more like one unit.

P.S. what tires are you running by the way...?
That launch was a tad bit over 7100. I've got all new stuff on the way and should be back friday with a new driveline setup.
