Differential Drivers Side Seal Replacement
The driver side axle seal is leaking on my 2000 C5 differential and I am considering attempting the replacement. I read the GM procedure posted on one of the threads and it appears straight forward, but requires use of a transverse spring compressor to compress the spring. Has anyone done this repair and is there a work around for the spring compressor? If not, any idea where you can buy or rent one? Also any problems encountered? Thanks.

It would be tough but doable in the car. Drop the suspension as much as you can, remove the upper mounting bolts and the lower spring bolt to allow the arm to drop. From underneath pry the old seal out and install the new one.
