I had the same problem...Still do kind of, but when I adjusted the shifter tightness~ for me...It seemed to help a bit. I do agree they make some noise but I love the Hurst any way.
Ok, Installed a hurst today in my O3 coupe. Install was rather painless...... Here's the question..........WHY IS IT SO LOUD??????
I pulled it all apart, then took the damn shifter apart just to make sure all was good. I like the shifting, the shift sound does not bother me but the engine/trans noise i hear in the cabin is insaine. Very hard to get into reverse.
1. Just mine or is Hurst just a loud set up?
2. Why do I have to push so darn hard to get into reverse?
I read all the comments and threads, etc. But it just seemed like it was personal preference. never would I think that It would be like this. Any suggestions??????
Lots of posts here on how to make it more quiet, by adding material to dampen the sound effects. Mine makes a ton of noise too, but I am into the over the top noise thing, ask MSG Huff, Cobra4B, Milkman...
Did you remove the stops or lock tight them??? If the back stop is still in the shifter and screwed in too far, it might be causing your dificulty with reverse. Hope this helps, easy fix and good luck!
