I've posted this on LS1Tech as well. My car has developed a tap/tick at idle. From what I can tell it's only at idle, & goes away as revs go up. The car runs very strong, no hesitations etc... Mods are in my sig. Reused stock lifters, as they only had 10k miles on them when I did the h/c swap. Seems to be more audible from the driver's side. I'm assuming it's a lifter issue, but I thought I'd get some more opinions.
Welcome to the world of cam'd motors. They are going to make more valve noise plus the headers will amplify the ticking that the cast manifold used to mute.

I know that a h/c car is going to make more valvetrain noise, I've had this setup for about a year, & about 7000 miles. The tap in the vid just started recently.
Make sure it's not a leak at the headers. They can sound like a ticking sound. I you do replace the lifters, look at the new GM Cadillac racing lifters. That's what I'm using in my 402 build. SDPC has them.
Did you do all that to your motor and re-use the stock pushrods?
Nah, check my signature again, I have trick flow 7.400 hardened pushrods in there.
Well, I guess I should say what I have checked. I checked the header bolts (all good), I checked all spark plugs (all good), I removed both valve covers in inspected the rockers (all good) & springs (all appear to be good, though the inner springs are hard to see). I put a can of seafoam in the gas, & 3/4 can in the crankcase which did quiet the noise, but didn't get rid of it. I've got about 200 miles on the oil w/ seafoam in it, so I'm going to change it this weekend to a thicker 10w-40 oil to see if it helps.
Well, changed the oil this weekend. Put AMSOIL 10w-40 in her, & the tap is completely gone! Actually seems to have quieted down the all the valvetrain considerably. Now I can spend the money I was going to use on new lifters, head gaskets, head bolts, etc..., on some drag radials!!
Where's the best place to get 305/35 18 Nitto 555R

What kind of oil did you have in there in the first place?
You may want to consider 7.425 pushrods, sounds like your pushrod length is marginal to obtain proper preload. Heavier oil would be a bandaid. How did you determine the pushrod length? How much lifter preload are you running?

The noise started when I put German Castrol 0w-30 in it. Removed it after about 2 days, & replaced it with what I normally run, AMSOIL 5w-40. The noise was still there so I put 3/4 of a can of SeaFoam in it for 250 miles. Changed this weekend to AMSOIL 10w-40, and the noise it gone.
