I have a 220/224 .581/.581 115+2 Comp cam and it passed a talepipe emissions with no problem. I did not have to employ any "tricks" to get it to pass.

It would help if you filled out your profile so people could give you advice based on what state you live in.

Here in Tx. a 230/227 .591/.571 on a 112lsa would pass. And our emissions are pretty tough. I think if you go with anything lower than a 112 lsa you would have probs.

If I recall, the G5X1 is 228/232 on 112 or so. That's similar to the custom cam I'm having installed shortly

If you can't pass tailpipe (Ct requires OBDII unless they suspect missing cats or your readiness isn't set) then you can try adding pure alcohol. "Air brake line antifreeze" is pure ethanol and only costs a few bucks at the auto parts store. Dump that in there with a few gallons of gas (regular or mid grade, not super) so that you're at least 20% alcohol or more...and you'll fly thru. I did that on my 1994 K1500 truck with no cat, a lumpy cam and passed with flying colors.

No because a correct tune will compensate for certain things, for instance shutting of the idle misfire detection will keep out misfire codes with a cam.

I have a More Performance H/C package producing 400+ rwhp , getting 27+ mpg on the road with 342's in an auto. Passed emissions with flying colors. More Performance is in Charlotte. Or they were , don't know if they are still in business ? I don't have the specs on the cam.

billdog.....can you recommend a place in your area that would give you the benefit of the doubt when it come to passing emissions.

I recently got my vette, it is not registered yet, it is modified, and I'm concerned about it passing emissions.
