How hard would it be to remove the rocker panels from the vette to have them painted. Or would it be best to just have them done while their still on the car. I don't like all those pit marks on my car. Any info please.
It is a big PITA to remove the rocker panels. Chevy dealer says that doors have to be removed, front fender and rear fender along with front and rear bumpers have to be removed.
I have not done it but looked at the GM tech manual in the past and it looked like a much bigger job than you would think. It is best to paint on the car -- look at the manual and I think you will agree.
Gee, I read that during the design phase, the C5 body engineers met with body repair pro's and insurance adjusters in order to lower the costs of body repairs.
The service manual says to use a heat gun to loosen them from the frame. When you get them painted make sure the shop masks off the frame, floor boards, undercarriage, and inner fender liner or you will have a terrible mess to clean up. You will have to be on them quite a bit about this because they forget. No other new car requires masking the bottom.
