Default LS1 to LS6 cam install

Swapped out the cam, valve springs and pushrods etc. on a friends 03 Z06. Car went off to get professionally tuned and I ended up with the old parts. The Z06 had about 18,000 miles on it, cam looks perfect. I have an 02 Coupe all stock except for Air filter and mufflers. You know what I’m thinking. Will the LS6 cam work OK in my car with the stock tune? I have read several places including Thunder Racings website that the LS6 cam has a .050 smaller base circle. Guess I could measure the cams when I have them out but looks like I would have to get some longer pushrods. Other than that it would just be gaskets, crank bolt and my time. I know without the LS6 heads etc. I would not get 400 at the crank but still might be worth 25 or so HP? Wada ya think?

The LS6 heads also have different valve stem lengths. The parts will all fit. If the parts were free, I'm surprised you car isn't apart yet

When I was in that position I sold that cam and bought a used GT2+4. I got it straight from LPE for $200. The LS6 springs will work with this cam. Your cam is worth $150, maybe a couple bucks more. If you can find a similar deal (Call LPE or do a WTB on LS1tech.com) you can have more HP for about $50.
Edit- I'm pretty sure that you're going to need longer push rods with that cam. The Z06s have longer valves to make up for that smaller base circle.

But I believe the pushrod length is the same since the longer valve stems would adjust for the shorter base circle.

But Ron does not have the longer Z06 valves in his car. He's coming up short somewhere.

If he puts on the 02 Z06 heads he will, or am I missing what his plans are?

Yeah I just have the Cam/springs/retainers/keepers and pushrods. Looks like the pushrods/retainers and keepers are the same as LS1.
