Default Are memory settings retained if battery is removed?

Are the memory settings (driver's seat position, radio presets, a/c settings, DIC options, etc) retained if the battery is disconnected for a long period of time? ie, are they saved in non-volatile memory? Or do you lose all that?

Thanks

Yes. Had the battery disconnected for 3 weeks while I modded the car and all was well when I was done.

I had the battery out for days, and when put back in I believe the clock was reset and the RANGE and MPG figures on the DIC were reset to zero. Otherwise, I think everything else stayed as is.

If you have a Delco radio with TheftLock turned on (red LED blinks when car is turned off) then either turn off TheftLock or be sure you have the radio code before disconnecting the battery. With TheftLock on the radio won't work after reconnecting without inputting the correct code.

See your Owner's Manual to see if your radio has this feature and more details on how it works.

Why can't we use those memory saver devices that plug into the cigarette lighter? I keep hearing we can't use them on C5's but I have never received an explaination as to why.

Default battery

when I changed my battery, I used 10 gauge wires clipped to an extra battery clipped on the alternator battery lug and to the alternator bracket.
everything stayed good, and then unclipped the wires
