mail order tune
he was telling me some of the parameters that they are able to change and set around. Pulling info from previous log files of cars with my same specifications etc..
also i do not have much done to the car.. zip tie mod, rear x pipe, z06 mufflers, cat delete...
I would mainly be looking for the tune to 'wake-up' the car more than anything. This is true i want a tuner that I can trust. I was on the phone with Chuck for 45 mins the other day and he eithor 1 is very confident in what hes does or 2 a really good salesman.
He also told me he would be down in my area next month that if there were any problems or w/e we could take the car out for a ride and he'll play around with the settings to make it run correct.
No charge for later modifications to the tune..
so im kind of weighing out my options..
closest place i can think of it Orlando or Miami area that does corvette tunes.. (Good ones)
btw its an A4..

You have Mike Norris and RevExtreme both within driving distance. If I con (I mean speak) to you on the phone, will you send me money? he was telling me some of the parameters that they are able to change and set around. Pulling info from previous log files of cars with my same specifications etc..

Ya think?
Hey 16! Knows NOTHING about your car??? Hmmm.... Maybe you know more than I do? Pretty BRAZIN for a guy like you to call out a PAYING SUPPORTING TUNER/VENDOR of the Corvette Forum and imply that I'm a con artist....
Good day to you.

I asked him about ME and a phone call. How the heck could you think that was directed at you?
That said, are you guilty of something the members should know about? Since your a PAYING SUPPORTING VENDOR maybe you should read the post before making an ACCUSATION LIKE THAT!!!!!! Hey 16! I don't care who you are or how long you have been here. Answer the guys questions and leave the bashing out.
FWIW Mike Norris did my cam install and my SC install as well as several friends of mine and other forum members. His reputation speaks for itself.
I have no experience with anyone else here (tuner wise) so I cannot speak for their experience or reputation.

I am just saying to be careful, I dealt with a very well known shop for my mail order tune, and by well known they are a sponsor on all the LSx websites and thousands use them. My first tune I got was crap, my second was better but still revved to 3K at startup and settled down after 30secs or so. The third tune I couldn't drive the car with the AC on without it revving way up and then finally settleing down. You have very few mods, which was not my case, so you should be fine with a mail order tune if you choose a tuner known for their tuning ability. I just chose a very popular company known for their products not their tunes.

But,I've never seen a mail order tune that is perfect. If you can have a good tuner local do a full tune it would be the best option.
Mail order tunes should be used if you have no access to a good tuner in your area.I've helped alot of people but will not start mail order because you can not get them perfect and that bother's me.Sure I can get them close and you will feel the difference but it's not the right way in my book.
As I understand it, they have log files from previouse tuned cars. From the log file the tuner find a close match to your car confuguration, and he just plug in the numbers. I bet it does not take the tuner more than 15 minutes to tune a mail ordered computer.
Also, software is not expensive and they are used over and over again; it is not like it is going to wear out.
Adding all that up the tuner has to come up with a price that he feels will still cover these expenses and net him some profit at the end of the day.
People are not force to buy a mailorder tune so if the price was too high I am sure the tuner would adjust, but if people continue to use mailorder tunes then why should he lower prices.

Weasle....
Thanks for the backup.....While It would be tough to sit here and try to explain everything I do or try to justify the price.....Please consider the following.....
1) Deluxe/Workshop/Unlocked/Unlimited PRO Tuning cables and software usually start around $8,000. Some more...some less.. I presently have 6 different cables. Do the math.
2) You MUST have a GM TECH II. Say for instance, a mail order tune comes in and the customer never went to the dealer and his tune and o/s are old...Many times there are advantages to downloading the most current tune from GM and fixing a bunch of stupid bugs in their software.... Did you ever wonder why some early C5's have a "competitive driving mode" and others don't????? OR you have to put yours in park to get it and your buddy with the same car dosen't??? Or maybe I just wanna upgrade your crappy 97 operating system to a 98 so the car runs better.....or a 99 to a 2000 and so on..... Following me yet?
3) BENCH HARNESSES.... another investment......I have to have cables here to connect all the different pcm's that come through here along with a bunch of other supporting hardware.....
4) Hey, Supporting Tuners PAY for Corvette Forum....so it's FREE for you guys.
5) MOST IMPORTANT THING TO CONSIDER: Buying your own cable and tuning you and your buddies car does not make you a tuner. Correcting AFR and Knock Retard does not mean you've TUNED a vehicle. There is much more to it than that.....Someone like myself that has a large facility packed with cars every day, has a legitimate business liscense, state registration for DMV, multiple insurance policies, and a staff......
6) You can choose me or whoever you like. Make your best decision...Talk to your friends....READ THE FORUM....Like the price...Feel comfortable with your decision......When you select a babysitter for your kids....you interview them....right? BE SMART.
Seriously though....Weasle brings up a good point....If a guy comes up to you on the city street...and he offers you a beautiful "REAL" rolex for FIFTY BUCKS.....Sure it's CHEAP....But, Would you take it or pass it up???? Could you trust it..... Don't just look at the price.
Think about it....Be smart...

So far I have $30k invested in software throughout the years. $30k in a dyno and who know's how many 100's of hours learning this stuff. I think all the tuners should charge $1000 for a tune

How bout a
