I was fortunate to receive a set of 1998 General Motors service manuals (three volumes) with my new-to-me 2000 Corvette, and am curious if there is anything on the 2000 that is different that I might want to know about, or are they virtually the same? They are an excellent set, and I was just curious how much may have changed in the two years. I have priced new ones, and cringe a bit at the $140-$150 price tag (it's the cheapskate in me, I know).
Most of the stuff will be the same, but the Active Handling and a few other things changed in 2000. Also, 2000 had a one year only cam, biggest of the LS1's. Brakes and normal maintenance things should be the same though. As always, if you aren't sure you can post a question but the manuals should be a big help.

I think there are enough in the way of differences to warrant getting the correct year manual. For example the earlier year models had the EBTCM/BPMV assembly mounted in the rear behind the differential and later C5s it mounts in front between the engine and the radiator fans. The water pump mounts to the engine block with paper gaskets on the earlier cars and I think it was in '99 that that was changed over to a newer (much better) type of gasket. These are just a couple things that pop to mind right away, but I'm sure there are a number of other things that others can think of too.
Check on E-Bay to help avoid the sticker shock of a new set, or you might try posting up in the C5 Parts section to see if someone can make you a decent price.

BTW, you can also post up the 98 manual for sale to help defray any cost differences.

Not sure of all the differences, but usually with each model year there are some changes made. If it were me, I'd get the manuals for your year of car. Keep an eye out in the C5 Parts for Sale section - manuals come up for sale every now and then and usually at a decent price. You can recoup some of your money by selling the ones you have.

For the most part you will be OK. The early cars had the brake module located in the back but when they added Active Handling as an option in 1998 the components moved to the front of the car. There are slight differences from year to year but the major changes to AH came in the 2001 model year. Most of the diagnostics will be the same. I used the manuals for my 97 from 1997 through the beginning of this year without much problem since most of the info didn't change.
