True GM Body Panels
Is their a way of determining if a body panel for a C5 is a GM replacement or reproduction?
I got a quote on the price which was $100. less than other dealers.
The dealer said the panel was What GM uses for replacement panels.

most after market are fiber glass and not SMC prices fronm dealers can vary widely. Local gut 110 for a set of lug nuts GM vendor on site was half the price. Sgould have a GM part number or sticker attached. What panel and how much was the quote?

The panel is the drivers side front fender. One quote is $299.00
The other quote is $402.00.

I just got a qoute for a right front fender from a GM dealer of $291.00 plus tax. I went to another dealer my freind works at and he told me he would get me one for $265.00 plus tax. I would do more price checking if I were you.

$402 is the msrp price on a front fender, and most dealers, but not all will sell it for less then that.

My guess at this time, if it was an aftermarket or reproduction part it would cost MORE than a factory GM part. I would guess with these cars that will be true for at least 4-6 years. When the OEM parts are this cheap it is not profitable for the reproduction companies to make these parts for such a limit market. And when GM stops selling them I'm guessing the reproduction part will cost more than what GM was selling them for.
