Default Ti muffler alignment

I just put on a Ti exhaust and the tips don't line up quite right. Just wondering how you adjust the exhaust. Do you just slide the muffler side to side in the hanger bracket?? seems like the only place to adjust, I did not see the if the bracket mounts move at all. Just got done late last night (did chassis plate as well) and wanted to get some input before I move forward.

thanks

You can shim the bracket mounts with washers. The bolts are fairly long giving you some room for play.

Is it a GM Ti exhaust? Mine lined up perfectly with no adjustment.

Yes it is GM Ti exhaust. I was thinking of washers also. Are the bolt holes slottled at all?? Could do a little bit there if it is. I know the mufflers slid in the wraparound bracket a little in shipping so it probably isn't right where it was when pulled off. They are close but are both still at \\ angles, Left side low and right side high.

The holes are slotted, but unless you plug up the slot the bolts will 'creep' toward the center of the car over time. It is also hard to get a wrench on them if you want to tighten the bolt when it is directly above the exhaust pipe.

Just take your time an play. I saw a guy put several hours in a Borla catback (wow, they fit like a$$!!) He made some good progress but the passenger side just wouldn't line up.

actually there is something that you can do.. Take a piece of wood and put it between the mufflers and the top of the bumper..make sure its good and tight, align as you wish..

then tighten the bolts on the cat back..

For what it's worth I sold him the set. They lined up perfect on my car so it should just be a matter of fiddling with them. Good luck

Default ti exhaust

yeah you just need to loosen the two fastener bolts again and adjust the alignment. I was able to do mine in the driveway in just like 10 mins after the initial mounting... the Ti exhaust is great! Good luck...

I had one side low, the other high.
The only solution was to remove the bolts that attached to the mid-pipe and slot the holes with a dremel tool. Then they will twist a bit to raise/lower the tips into a parallel alignment. Those flanges must be Ti also, they were hard to slot with a dremel.

I had the same problem when I installed my Ti's. Just loosen the two bolts in the catback flang, there is enough slop that you can rotate the catback slightly then tighten, you will probably need to tweek both to get them aligned with respect to one another.

it helps to have at least 2 people, one tightening/moving and one watching the alignment.

No worries for you my friend, I know it is just a matter of getting things just right. I got closer, but feel that the h-pipe needs to move in the right direction for everything to be ****. Still waiting for the time to do it. I thought about slotting the flange also, but will only do that as a last resort.

they do sound bitchen when your on it!!

I notice the horizontal rubber mount had two slots in it. One a bit higher than the other. I wasn't paying attention and slid one tang into the top slot on one side and the other was in the bottom slot. It's a 2K perhaps they've changed or modified the rubber mounting piece?

I did the same thing... Check to make sure your "tang" is in the right spot... Did I say that out loud??
