My maintenance DVD says;
"Make sure the integrity of the connection between the EBTCM and the BPMV is secure, tight, and free from corrosion. "
If you can't find a connection problem, it's probably the BPMV BUT I'd take it into a trusted dealer to them do a diagnostic on.

NO! You most likely have a EBTCM issue. Iys the electrical portion of the module and it is not user serviceable. You can however disconnect the main EBTCM connection, examine it, make sure it is clean and corrosion free and reconnect it. If you have a bad EBTCM, it is an easy self repair. You will save your self about$400 to $1000. dollars depending on where you get your module. Here is a pic of the module EBTCM/BPMV:

Pull the electrical connectors, examine then, clean them reinstall and see if things change. If they don't, its time for a new EBTCM. In the Navy,,, if things don't work correctly, mechanical agitation (smack the damn thing with a rubber mallet) is sometimes necessary!
Ya never know, it might change the symptoms or even fix it.
