I called a local speed shop here in Phoeinx the other day and they said that they would bill 7 hours, at $95 per, for the header install.
I have looked at the how to's on this subject and I would think that I could do it myself, if I had what I needed here, in that amount of time.
Does this seem excessive or about average?
I did my own header install with a buddy and we took our sweet *** time............going very slowly and it took us about 5 1/2 hours. If you are prepped and ready it shouldn't take much longer than that
I agree GPRacer. That's why I posted my question, something didn't seem right about it.
What do you think about TorchRed's offer GP? Do you have a garage and a set of jack stands that could be used for the installs? If not, I would be happy to split the cost of a new set of jack stands and you can keep them. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for a new garage.
Yeah, I live alone in a house with 2 car garage, vaulted ceiling. I have 2 jacks and stands and ramps. I will probably go out and buy the tallest stands I can find, they are cheap. I think they said you need at least 24 to 30 inches to get the headers in from the bottom on one side. It will be a good excuse for me to clean out the garage anyhow
The drivers side goes in from the bottom and needs the car pretty high off the ground to get it in.
I have a set of Craftsman high lift (yellow/black in color) stands. They work ok for the rear of the car but it would be good to have stands with a wider base to hold the front end. When I did mine, I borrowed a old heavy duty red set of stands from a friend.
I just called Jet Hot. They are here in Tempe (Phoenix)
$329 for the extreme sterling jet hot, good for nitrous and superchargers and lasts longer than the standard $279 job. I am gonna order my headers tomorrow and then have them coated. Should be ready by Jan.
Ill just charge myself $329 for the header install and give the money to Jet Hot. And still save $270 for other gofaster stuff.
The 1st time I did it - 5 hours.
The 2nd time I did it - 3 hours.
The 3rd time I did it - 2.5 hours.
The 4th time I did it - 2 hours.
Hardest part is the drivers side. The new (made by Borla) LG Headers are much easier to install than their 1st generation headers.
I typically just loosen the engine mount on the driver side, pry the motor up a bit and drop 'em in, did my DYNATECH LTs in about 2.5 hours, however, that was my third setup in the header department.
it took me 9 1/2 hours to install GHL's by myself on my back and doing the air tube swap. in all great learning experience...would i do it again Fu*k No!!

What if any additional mod's are required with the LG Street series? I am still considering which way to go.
Did you go with the 1 3/4? Are there any additional changes that will be required with these? I want to make sure that I have all my ducks in a row.....know wut i mean....
Basically you just need the adapter plug from LG to fit your rear sensors to the forward plug (electrical). You can also get extensions to use the rear sensors but I just put plugs in the rear bungs and disabled the rear sensor DTC's in the PCM.
The PM I sent you & gpracer... verify with LG but I know for sure with the pro series they recommend the F-Body gasket rather than reusing your gasket. I've not done a street series installation but they look very similar to the pro series.
