Why does the coolant run thru the factory throttle body ??
( People behind me right now fighting over who gets to drive my Vet right now )
I mean, I don't see any reason for coolant to run thru the throttle body, am I missing something ??
Does the coolant do something in the throttle body that I'm missing ??
i heard that it was for Gm's anartica tests, and is only good at keepping the coolant from freezing at sub zero temps. Funny how it is gone in the c6 motors
From what I have read about camaro's (that use the same design).. it is mainly here for cold weather operation to help warm up the incoming air for better detonation... why you would want to do that I don't know... I like my air COLD...
its there to actually help warm up the TB instead of cooling it. I guess this would help in colder regions. Kinda like when the older cars used to use a heat riser. I bypassed mine.

In some cold weather conditions (very cold, high humidity) the low presssure area in the TB can cause the Throttle Blade to ice up and possibly stick or effect driveability. The hot coolant running through the TB helps prevent that from happening. Thats the facts, plain and simple!
Mines removed! You can make your own fitting from Home Depot.
Go to Home Depot and buy a brass 1/4" ID pnumatic airhose coupler. Remove the two coolant lines that conect to the bottom of the TB and couple them together with the brass coupler. Bypassed! By the way this mod shows no noticable gain.

But it makes TB removal in the future much easier
I always wondered about the compatibility of the brass in the Dexcool and all aluminum cooling system.
Looks like that proves it's worth about 6HP for next to nothing in cost! Now, if I could just find a way to do that 9 more times for the same about of $$$....
Hey, there in Idabel, OK, I'm not far away in Ponca City. You have any drivablility problems in the winter after the bypass? Mine is a daily driver except when it snows up here....
STW, Doc

Well, though we are in the same state, we are a pretty good distance from each other. I think it gets a good bit colder up there where you are. But to answer your question, no, I have never had any problems with mine and have never heard of anyone anywhere in the U.S. having problems with it.
Good luck and happy modding
For next to nothing, it is definitely a worthy mod.
