Default Weiand intake manifold

This maybe a really dumb question.I bought a weiand john lingenfelter intake manifold, havent installed it yet, just looked at it so far.I will try to explain this without sounding totally stupid,on the top of the manifold right behind where the throttle body mounts is a flat area with about a 1 inch hole into the intake manifold, to me it looks like something mounts there.Ive looked at the stock intake on the car and doesnt look like anything is mounted on it. Can someone explain this to me,please?
Thanks guys.

I believe that is for something that the f-body uses. Did it come with any kind of block off plate?

did they move the map sensor fron the rear to the front. The new manifolds have the map sensor up front, much easier to reach.

The hole is for EGR ( like for an early year ls1 F-body ), which vettes do not have . The intake should come with a plate to cover the hole . In a pinch till you can get a cover you could also use a freeze out plug or just make your own cover just make sure it seals good

I recently installed one of the aluminum manifolds - for the bling factor - and the port block off plate can be ordered from Mid-America. It will contain a polished aluminum plate and gasket for $50.

Get a piece of scrap aluminum plate and make your own. All you need is a hacksaw and a drill. With a little extra effort, you can polish it, and it will look as good as anything you can buy.

Thanks guys, for all the info. I tried to get weiand tech people on the phone today but all i could get was they were busy and would get to me as soon as someone was available. I got tired of waiting after about 30 minutes and gave up.

The manifold does not come wth the plate.
You can buy one or make one. That's it.

The last one I did about a year and a half ago came with a bead blasted plate that matched the manifold to a T . But I did the install for someone else and did not purchase it for myself so I just assumed it was a factory part by the looks of it in any event you can still do as I said and fab one up or use a freeze out plug , this is common practice in the f-body world when we would remove egr from the stock intake .

I had a miserable day at work today, so I needed something to put me in the holiday spirit. I made this for you. PM me with your mailing address and I'll get it in the mail to you. right after Christmas. There is no way I'm going near a post office or UPS tomorrow. It is not bead blasted but it's not $50 either.
Merry Christmas.
