Default Shaner Throttle Bodies

Anyone have any experience with these? Are they worth the trouble to swap out? Any issues or hassle on the core return and credit?

Thanks for the input.

I have a Shaner TB and really like it. I sent him my TB and had him port it and send it back to me. There was no core charge that way. Plus I wanted to keep my own TB. I did it during a head and cam change to the car so it was down for a little while away.

Shaner does excellent work, you will have not problems with it. I was very impressed when I saw it in person. Happy Holidays!!

Shaner does excellent work. I have an LS1 TB ported by him on my car now and will be sending him my LS2 shortly for the 90/90 install.

I decided at the last minute that I wanted a ported tb when I was having a cam install. I called and talked to Mark (Shaner) and explained that I would like to get it put on while it was still in the shop. He went out of his way to get me one before my car was finished. I received it the day the guy was completing the job and had him put it on. Mark is a super nice guy also, we always seemed to talk 45 minutes or so about cars when I would call him. I heard about him over on LS1tech. There is a 250.00 core charge. Just return yours after you get his ported one and he'll send you your check back.

Mark Shaner does excellent work! He port and polished a new TB I sent him from Fred Beans Chevrolet. He's a great guy to talk to and really enjoys his work, especially if its going to be used in a racing environment. His price is fair, completes the task in a timely manner and the results are 2nd to none. Throttle response was significantly improved with some hp gains. You'll be happy. Mike

I've got one of his ported TB too. I'm local to Mark and after talking a bit on the phone he told me to come on over to his place and we'd do the swap. He also said that if I didn't like it after the TB was installed, we'd swap it back out to my original one - no charge. We sat around talking a bit and checking out the numerous parts he has lying around. He also cranked up his camaro - pretty awesome sounding. We removed my TB and held it up next to the ported one - a huge difference in the inside diameter after the port. We put the ported one on and then took it for a spin. Needless to say I was impressed by the improved throttle response/crispness and have stuck with it.

He said there probably wouldn't be a huge hp difference, but that I'd noticed the responsiveness and the jump I'd get on another stock Z.

Mark does fantastic work. I was lucky enough to pick up one of his ported throttle bodies in the Parts for Sale section. It runs really smooth and throttle response is super! As all C5 and Z06 throttle bodies are identical, if anyone needs a core, I have an absolutely perfect, 2000, C5 stock throttle body I'd let go for $90.00, shipped. Then, when you get the ported Shaner back, just resell yours for what you paid for this one. No downtime and no $250 core charge. I have pictures if anyone's interested.

I agree about the quality of his work, but...... does anyone have any before/after dyno numbers with just the swap of his TB?

I'm thinking of maybe picking one up for my Z06 but I had a negative experience with his TB on my heads/cam Camaro SS. I did a before/after dyno with just a swap of his TB and actually lost 3hp.

So I'm just wondering if my car was an exception and someone can show me some real dyno proof.

Add another!!! He was a little backed up when I ordered mine, so it tooka little longer than I was hoping, but he got it out to me. Got my deposit back a day or two after getting my core back. Used Paypal...

Running a shaner here too!
Excellent workmanship.
No dyno #'s before and after, but the main reason for doing the TB is for the throttle response.
Extra ponies are just a bonus.
