Default Clutch install help please

Help in the middle of a clutch install cant get the torque tube seperated from the housing. It is out about 1 inch. I got the slave disconnected and all five bolts out around the housing. There seems to be some kind of large harness running along the torque tube on the passengers side top. There is some slack in this harness at the housing.
I was thinking this could be disconnected as I slowly brought the torque tube down. The shifter and the linkage is all disconnected inside the car. Been trying to gently rock it out. Do I need to pry it from this point? I not a fan of prying anything.

Sorry been trying to download and save the dope clutch install and have not had any success. I get the first page and my computer goes into error. The excedy clutch install is kind of a weak install guide.
Would apprec. any help I could get on this topic.

Sounds like the spline on the torque tube input is caught up in mating clutch diaphragm splines. If the angle is not too acute you should be able to gently apply pressure to separate.

What is that harness I feel ontop of the torque tube. It feels like it is just pressed in the clamps on top the torque tube. Do I get those now or when I lower the tube down some.

I have very little angle on trans now. I have the dow pins out and they are still lined up as I could just slide it back in. Starting to sweat this project I took on.

that harness is clipped into the torque tube if the clutch has been done before it should pop right out....run your hand along the top of the torque tube on the pass side u should be able to feel the tabs,4 i believe...and make sure all sensors and clips are disconected also..hope this helps

Try spraying some spray lubricating oil on the splines and pushing the torque tube back in. The angle on the torque tube can also cause it to bind up. You may need to pry on the front mating surface some but don't use too much force.

I was able to remove the harness from the top of torque tube by going through the shifter hole. I gonna try to spray it now.

also, make sure the differential is low enough.
check the gaps at the top and bottom of the torque tube/clutch housing... adjust with floor jack under back of engine. Did you disconnect the abs control from the rear cradle?

You can get to most of the brackets holding the wiring harness from the shifter hole in the tunnel.

Check to make sure the shifter mount has clearance

There is a bracket that one of the torque tube bolts goes through that needs to be out of the way.

That's all I can think of.. I'd lightly use a pry bar to persuade it to go backwards... the splines might have some crap in the grooves.

Good luck

Okay I got it. I not gonna be able to drop it totally to tommarow. I see the strut brace has the main harness running under the top rod. After looking a little closer had to put jack under bell housing and lift back of motor just a hair so have a straight shot out. I didn`t think I would have to lower the trans that much. I was sweating the composite firewall. I should be on my merry way. This looks like its gonna be ugly getting back in!!!!!
