I'm thinking about using 100 Octane pump fuel. I want to see what the difference is in performance besides the $2 differnce in price! The manual says to use a minimum of 91 octane but doesn't say the maximum. Would it be safe to run this high of an octane in an LS1 with stock internals?

It would be safe but a waste of money. Running too high of a octane actually causes you to lose a little power if you aren't tuned for it. If you throw in some more timing and tune for it you may see a little power increase.

$2 difference????? Around here 100 octane is $6 per gallon and premium is $2.45.
Used Aviation fuel (military issue avgas) in my 63 Vette when I took it to the drags back in 66 and I think it was 110 octain. It was blue in color. Mixed 5 gallons with High test (leaded) in a 34 gallon tank (Z06). Ran the 1/4 like a raped ape. Was protested a few times as the starters eyes were weeping everytime I ran. Rebuilt it a few times in a 4 year stint and never saw any engine damage. It did keep the fuel system and the Holley 1040 spotless.
Aviation fuel (even though it is called 100 octane Low Lead) has VERY high amounts of lead in it. It will not only destroy your cats, but will build up in the engine.
You can buy 100 octane UNLEADED fuel at most race tracks, and there are some gas stations that sell it in barrels ... take a look at:

Please explain this. There are others who mentioned it could cause damage. I have never understood why.
1. Will burn out your o2 sensors;
2. You only need about 3 gallons. More than that is a waste;
3. There's a unocal mixing chart on their website.
Net net, 2-3 gallons is good for a little bump (5hp) more than that will fry your emission control system.
Fry the emission control system ?????
I don't think so .... I've run hundreds of laps at Laguna Seca, Willow Springs, Buttonwillow, and Sears Point (Infinion) with anywhere from 95 octane (first fill of the day ... starting with about 6 or 7 gallons of 91 octane and topping off with 100) to almost pure 100 octane (by end of weekend I'm on my 3rd or so tank of 100 octane). I've NEVER had a problem with the cats, O2 sensors, or any other part of the car related to fuel (eaten some brakes, worn out tires ... but never a fuel issue). Car has 47 thousand hard miles on it, and it PURRS at the track, especiially when I feed it unleaded 100 octane.
How would 100 octane affect the O2 sensors ???????
One of the main reasons I run 100 octane is to reduce the chances of pre-ignition due to hot engine parts, and to get the maximum spark advance the PCM will allow for that throttle setting. I'm not looking for extra HP per se ... I believe that the stress that I put the engine under at a road course needs to be mitigated as much as possible by running a high octane fuel. Last thing I want is engine damage due to the lousy 91 octane sold here in N. Calif.
100 UNLEADED fuel will not hurt anything..You can blend 100 with 91 and have 95.5 oct....This will save money and its all you should need.
The higher the octane the slower it burns...So if you need 93 or 94 and run 100 octane it costs more and may costs a couple of HP...But will not hurt anything if its unleaded...
You may want to try a qt. of Torco and blend it with 91oct...
lol, a lot of retarded opinions about 100 octane in here.
It won't give you any extra power period end of story none at all. You can make more though by using it in some setups. If you can't/don't understand that go back to the general forum. It will not hurt anything either by using it.
Most just use it for safety though. I run some when I spray.
