Default Odyssey Batteries

I was looking an Optima battery when I bumped into these Odyssey batteries. They allow deep discharge and come back, they reduce weight instead of adding weight, and the rest of their numbers look good. Anyone have any experience, comments, advise they would like to share about the Odyssey?

Is it a dry mat battery or gel type??? these are the only type I will use because of the computer under the battery....Who makes it?

It is a "starved electrolyte design" and classified as dry battery by USDOT. It is supposed to have a 10 to 12 year design life and they can come with a metal jacket to protect them from heat. (This is all from their literature and what companies' literature doesn't say they can walk on water) They've got a web page

www.odysseyfactory.com

The 925 is for daily use and the 680 is for track cars.

They are nice little batteries, I rana 680 on the street in my TA and it worked great. If you don't have any amps or anything pulling a lot of juice it is fine for street duty. At less than $100 shipped they are great batteries that will shed weight off the front of the car.

I have a 925 it's been in 3 cars and just won't quit. The stock hold down won't work on these here's how I keep it in place.

Well I found another site West Coast Batteries

http://www.odysseybatteries.com/index.htm

that lists the PC 925 MJT as a good dailey driver battery at 28 lbs and they make an aluminum side mount for it that should fit in the C5's battery tray. Looks like I'm headed down this road. At least I haven't heard anything negative yet.

You can not find a better battery. If you are not running anything other than stock accessories the 925 is really overkill. This is an indestructable battery!

I run an Odyssey battery in my 2003 C5 Z06 that I got from ATI Performance Engineering (http://performance.accuratetechnolog...6d7dfcd0d9c23c 79bebab5ab2a523c3 and I LOVE IT!

I love it for 5 VERY good reasons:

1. It is a gel-type battery so I don't have to worry about it leaking and damaging my car.

2. It is 20 lbs. lighter then stock.

3. It is about 1/3 the size of the stock battery.

4. It starts my car, runs my headlights, plays my music, and everything else just like a stock battery. The great thing, is my car is NOT a daily driver. I probably drive my car once a week on average, but I have even left it for 2 full weeks and when I went to start it, perfect, NO PROBLEMS whatsoever. It starts in the dead of winter (single digits) just as well as the dead of summer (100F)

5. ATI also sells a perfectly functioning and very cool looking mounting bracket. The only reason the mounting bracket is needed is becauses the damn thing is so small. It actually looks like a motorcycle battery.

I know that ATI's website lists this battery as a "racing/starter battery" but my experience for the past 1.5 years has been that it's a OEM replacement capable of doing everything the OEM battery could do, except leak LOL.

If you have any questions at all, I have talked to Bruce Essig at Odyssey Batteries (660) 429-7506 several times and I have always been VERY impressed. Bruce knows the ins-and-outs of not just odyssey batteries but the entire industry and a cars electrical system.

I hope this helps.
