Hello everyone. I'm new around here, so forgive any screw ups.
I have a 2001 Coupe and only had it a week now. The drivers side window started making a grinding sound when lowered and raised. I've tried not to use it, until I get some advice. It almost sounds like a rock trying to scratch glass, for lack of a better identification. It is a grindy sound though.
Do you think it's the motor or is there something else going on? Has this been a problem in these C5's? I've never taken a door apart and would hope I didn't have too, but......
Anyone have any input about this or is there a place that covers this?
Thanks for your help. Jean
Mine was doing that and after about two weeks it stopped working altogether. I took it to the shop and they said that the window regulator was binding. It was replaced and that fixed the problem.

Ouch! That's what I was afraid of. I just check and they wanted $384.00 for that puppy. Not what I wanted to hear guys. Guess I'll have to skip a mod and get this done while it snows.

Check the PARTS section ... sometime there are cars being parted out and you can find a used one for a little less $$$.

Check forum vendors and others, including "that" auction. The regulator assembly is about $120 if you don't pay retail at the dealer. If you can operate a wrench and a screwdriver, you can replace the regulator. Search on this forum for regulator replace.
