I've been reading around the web quite a bit and I am unable to find a good description of C5 ignition systems.
This is the new GEN III V8 with one coil per cylinder, from what I have read.
What I'm wondering is , is the problems that C4's had with the opti-spark controller going out, and being so expensive to replace, has that problem been elimated ??
I has a 93 Z28, and had the opti-spark burn out, and what a headache that was, so now that I am looking for a late 90's vette, I do not want to inherit an opti-spark problem.
The C5 ignition system completely different than the Optispark. It uses one coil for each cylinder controlled by the PCM. Other than maybe changing the plug wires, you shouldn’t have to touch it.
