Stingers really aren't that loud on a stock C5...They are deeper and sound wayyy better than stock, but they aren't as loud as I thought they be.

Sounds like they'd be too quiet for me. I run the 2 tip Stingers, and they aren't loud enough. Hoping a cam will open them up.

I picked Borla Stingers after hearing at least 5 different cat-back systems. They come closest to that 60s sound my 68 C3 had. Here're some sound clips:

GTG's. Get-to-Gethers.

There's practically Corvette gatherings in every part of the country(only year round in the warm climate states) where you can talk to people with different exhaust and other mods, and find out what you like listening to the most(you can probably get rides from the ones you're really interested in to see if you like the inside noise as well).

That's how I chose my Borla's. A buddy has an 02' Z06 with Intake, MTI Heads and GX1 cam, LG Headers, and Borla 2 tip exhaust with a tune. It was love at first for me, and eventually I'll have a similiar setup on my coupe(before FI comes in anyway )

very difficult to evaluate how sounds impact you, or anyone else.

I love my Stinger system, bought after I listened to all the other systems in my Vette club. How else can you tell?

Seems to be, your question is strictly a matter of taste.

The stinger does not drone at 1,700 -2,100 range as some others do.

Changing to Michelin ZPs helped control noise more than exhaust.

Boy that's the truth. My stock runflats made more noise at 70mph than my Borlas did.

I installed a Borla exhaust about 5+ years ago. I'm not sure what the touring system is. I got the Borla muffelers, four tips, and pipes that go over the axel. From that point foreward they are stock. They sound much better than the stock.

Here are a couple of pics, maybe you can tell if it is what you are calling the touring. Mark

That is the touring system. It has full sized mufflers.

Hey Jerry,

I'm still working on getting a straight Bullets clip on a non header car for you.

Peace

My sig has a clip of my car from a few weekends ago when I finished my cam install... the car has a G5-X2 cam on a 114 lobe, Kooks LT headers w/ cats, and Stingers.

Last weekend I swapped ot Corsa Indys becuase of the drone w/ the Borlas.

I've had the stingers over 3 years and before the cam they were PERFECT but adding the big cam made them very droney.

Default I got mine last weekend.

I got my dual tip borla stingers last weekend. They make my 01 A4 vert sound the way a vette should sound. So far there isn't a thing about them I don't like. Oh, and I got the Magna flow x pipe at the same time. One of the other posts compared the Borla's and the Corsa's to having more bass versus treble. I gotta agree.

Exactly... Borlas have more bass... unfortuately this translated to interior rattling drone after I installed my cam.

For me.... Corsas are great w/ the cam, the motorboat sound at idle they're known for on a stock car is gone.

Anything other than the cam the Borlas are the way to go

Here's a clip for you. TPIS LTs,4-tip Borla stingers, no cats, x-pipe.

Sorry but it was real windy in Houston this afternoon when we shot this. Also camera was about 20' away from the car.

Here's one of a slow drive away. Ignore the alarm, my remote was dead and I didn't feel like getting out and going to the other side to get to the valet switch and kill it. Also, I know, I know, my left outside tail light is out but not anymore!

I have the Borla Touring system on my Vette. It's certainly louder than stock, and a little louder than a stock Ti system outside the car. It's actually a lot more droney inside than I thought it would be. For the small gain in exterior volume, it's a lot louder inside. I used to have Stingers in my old car with similar mods and didn't think they droned much worse than the touring system.

I'd actually change out the touring today for the Stingers if I didn't live in a townhome community. I'd probably get thrown out, the Stingers were MUCH louder outside the car. These tourings make a pleasing sound and the tips are beautiful, so I think I'll hang onto them for a while. But if my car didn't already come with them installed and I was starting from stock, I think I would go a different route.

Funny you say your Borla Touring drones. I swapped out Corsa Pace for Borla Touring because the Corsas droned like hell! My Borlas are comparable to stock as far as drone goes.

I should note that I have heads/cam/Kooks/No cats. So that probably makes a small difference.

FWIW I put my borlas back on this weekend... saved a ton of weight over the Corsas, and I like my dual cannons a bunch better.

The car sounds 1000x better at idle, but there is a good bit more drone and at WOT it's a toss up. The Borlas roar and the Corsas scream.... 2 different sounds, both make the hair on your back stand up if you're a car guy.
