Default Diff question

I was just wondering if it would be better replace my diff as a unit or just replace the ring and pinion gear. I don't know if our C5's will ever get into that numbers matching thing like earlier vettes. Any opinions?

Well, a lot of my friends think I am out of my mind, but I save all stock parts. So for the rear, I picked up a used 3.15 (wanted the "3" case) and it is now at DTE getting built. I plan to swap out the stock for the new one and then preserve the stock unit. Also, if you ever sell the car some people want the car stock. It also lessens down time on the car.

Very few mechanics can correctly install a ring & pinion in a C5. 99% of us replace the whole diff when we change our gear ratio. DTE is probably one of the best around.
