hey guys, im not too clued up about the mechanical side of things, but id at least think i could change my oil and filter. the thing is before i start i'd like to know i have the right filter. Now the guy in the shop said it was the right one, but im not so sure because i live in new zealand, there is only about 10 or so c5's in the country and he happened to have a filter on th shelf and it looks quite small. to cut to the chase-is there any numbers that are on the filter so i know i've got the right one? the number on it is c-8025 and says interchangeable with HF006

I use the K&N HP1007 oil filter. You may have to mail order it for where you live.
Good luck..

The correct OEM part is AC-Delco part number PF46 which equates to a K&N HP-1007 or a Fram PH3506.
You don't state who the maker is of your filter, and I can't get a match on the numbers you stated here in the US ...BUT ....
An easy way to be sure you've got the right filter .... while there may only be a handful of Corvettes in NZ, I bet there are a bunch of Holden Monaros with the LS1 engine in them ... which is the same engine as in your Corvette. See what filter is listed for them ... it'll fit your engine too

Reason: spelling

What is the brand name on the filter you have now? A number wont help much without a name brand as there are thousands of numbers.
yes the guy at the shop said it would fit commodores and monaros

So long as you're OK with that brand, then the guy at the shop is correct as the Monaro and Commodore use the LSx engine series ....
Australian V8 Supercars is a GREAT racing series ... we get it on SpeedTV here in the US and those are some of the best races run ANYWHERE ... especially tracks like Mount Panorama .... AWESOME !!! (You ever go to the Pukekohe Circuit ??)

yes i went there last year to watch the racing, my partner works for a holden dealership so she got us corporate seats, it was great for a while, but i have a short attention span so soon tired of it, although there was one incident when the gt3's were racing a car crashed and flipped over the spectator fence into the crowd luckily none of them were hurt and the driver waved to the crowd as he was cartered away on the strecher, i will take my car there soon as i get a new clutch its starting to slip under severe abuse. pukekohe is only an hrs drive from where i live
I would stay away from unknown brands and stick to Delco, Mobil, K+N, or Fram.

Sakura may well be a "proven" brand in the Land Down Under .... just because you haven't heard of it here in the US does not mean it is "bad". There are many brand names that are well known and respected outside the US, and have a different name, or are not availabe here (Virgin Blue is a low fare airline operating in Australia, for example).
