Default Service traction control(Yeah..again)

After reading so many posts on this subject,I thought I'd chime in. I've read about cleaning the grounds, etc. I bought my 2002 in November with 1691 miles, (currently 3,400) and the first time I robustly accelerated during the test drive, the 'Service Traction Control' message showed up. The owner told me it started coming in at around 1000 miles. Could this possibly be a ground situation on such a low mileage vehicle? Also, the Only time it ever comes in now is when under heavy acceleration...never any other time.
BTW I have a new module as supplied by the former care-taker of the car, and the local dealer quoted me 1.5 hours labor. Seems rather extreme to me.
Any thoughts?
Thanks much!

First thing I'd do is dump the codes to see why the messgae is coming up ... there are like 5000 things that could be causing it, the code(s) will narrow it down substantially.

To dump the codes, read here for instructions.
