Default C5-c6 shocks the same?

I assume they are the same, but there may be slight differences I guess

I am talking about physical size, not dampening characteristics
or the electronic setup, just the basic shock bodies

I just need to know why a certain unnamed company charges more for the same shock in c-6 form

They are very close in same size. Many members have swaped out the old C5 shocks for the new C6 Z06 shocks and have reported great results. They are valved different.

Default C6 Shocks a bit shorter

I replaced my C5 Z51 shocks with C6 Z06 shocks. Front shocks, same length. Rear C6 Z06 shocks a bit shorter. Also, the threads on the shock shaft aren't as long either, I used a spacer washer on rear shock shaft to fit. You'll see what I mean when you thread the nut. Installed fine. No complaints/issues after 3500 miles. I reused the Z51 rubber bushings as those on the C6 Z06 are different. My Z51 bushings were in great shape, cleaned up nice, no cracks. If yours are worn, get a new set from dealer or Gene Culley since you're changing shocks.

Installed them on my 02 Z06 and they went right on, no issues. Compressing them was a royal bitch. Use coat hanger wire, and compress them out of the car. Then set them in place and cut the wire!

Car handle really cool through turns!! No more washboard bounce side stepping that scares the bejesus out of you!

Or use zipties - works easy for getting the old ones out, too.

Hmmm,
A little shorter huh?

I wonder ...........Do you think that may have something to do with the z06 shocks as compared to the length of the common variety c-6 shocks?

Thanks for the responses all!

Default C6 Z06 Shocks

I don't know why they are shorter, it's not much, or why there are less threads on the piston shaft. I'm new to this car. I'm sure there's a suspension guru out there that knows why. All I know is have a better ride than with the Z51 shocks. Just seems less 'darty' and more controlled. I don't race, just drive the twisties aggressively and I like the way the car handles now. I also put in the solid aluminum end links when I swapped shocks. Maybe they are the reason for the improved ride or contribute a certain percentage to the ride improvement. All I know is I'm happy with the product.
