Default Electrical Issue short

I have run down the general area of the short problem I have. It is the wires that come from the silver box next to the fuse panel in the passenger foot well. When ever my windows stop working I take off the cover that exposes the fuse box and wiggle the wires and all starts working again. Does anyone know which wires control the windows? Sure a lot of wires down there. Thanks for any help.

I'm thinking that "silver box" is the BCM itself. You probably have a connector not plugged in all the way on it or defective connections on one of those connectors. The bcm talks to everything including the door control modules.

Yes, the silver box is the BCM. If you ever had a water leak in that area, which is fairly common, you might have corrosion on the contacts. Read Bill Curlee's thread on this.

yes bill is the man. I live in tucson, yet it does rain sometimes. My locking mech does not work on pass side so maybe it is the bcm for that as well. I know it is the windows just can't fine out which wire or conector is for the windows.

Different model years, are going to have different wiring, so that is not going to be a simple question to answer. Disconnect the battery and check the BCM connectors. It's a good place to start. Water in that area is often caused by a clogged A/C drain, and I know you use that in Arizona.

Here are some things to help. Have you checked to make sure the power to the doors isn't intermittent? The wires carrying power from the I/P fuse box are colored Orange and there are two of them going to each module. The Driver Door power is in Connector C1 pins B12 and C12 while the Pas. Door power is supplied from pins B11 and C11. There are 4 fuses.

The Door Module door ajar switch connections to the BCM are Gry/Blk and Blk/White wires and are in Connector C2 for the BCM pins C2 and D1 respectively. These wires are probably are not causing your problem. The data link beteen the two modules may be causing your problem. The data link wiring for the Driver Door Module is Brown and Tan for the Passenger Door Module. The wires go to Star Connector #2.

(1) Theft Deterrent Relay
(2) Fuse Block-IP
(3) Blower Motor Relay
(4) Star Connector #2
(5) Body Control Module (BCM) C3
(6) Body Control Module (BCM) C1
(7) Star Connector #1
(8) Body Control Module (BCM) C2
(9) Steering Column Lock Relay

Here is the Theory of Operation of the Windows:
Power Windows Description and Operation
Window Up/Down
The power window master switch left front up or down signal circuits provide inputs to the driver door module (DDM) when the driver window switch is activated. These inputs allow the DDM to detect a window UP or DOWN request from the driver door switch. The DDM provides power and ground to both of the left window switches. When the left window up switch is activated, a ground is supplied through the left window up switch to the window up input which is pulled low. When the DDM detects low voltage on the window up input, the DDM will command the driver window up. If the DDM detects low voltage on the driver window down input, the DDM will command the driver window down. If the passenger window is operated from the driver window switch, the DDM will send a message on the serial data line to the passenger door module (PDM) to operate the passenger window up or down. The passenger window operates the same as the driver window except the PDM is receiving the passenger window switch input and controlling passenger window output functions. The door modules provide both power and ground through the power window motor left front up control and power window motor left front down control circuits to the window motors. The up and down output operation is similar to one another except that the polarity of the voltage applied to the window motors is reversed.

Check the star connectors first. They will be flat connector ends cliped to the BCM area make sure the splice connectors in the top of them are pushed all the way in

Dale
Do you mean the wires that go into the star connectors or where the wires connect to the BCM from the star connectors?

The star connectors are there to pull modules off line for diag and service applications. The top piece or "comb" bridges the serial data line and connects them together if one of the combs is loose you could be loosing communication to the door control module.

Thanks Bill, Dale and all. I think I got it. At least the windows and easy seat part. I grabed the star 1 and pushed the top and heard this loud click and now the windows and easy seat are working. Strange that the easy seat is part of it. The passenger door still wont lock but that may be another issue. If I lock it with the fob and you open it the alarm still goes off so there is some safety there. I never tried pushing the star 2 top I wonder if that could be part of the door? Again thats all.
