Corvette Garage sells a HID projection system for the C5.(http://www.corvettegarage.com/produc...-corvette.html) Their cost is $1,000. Has anyone purchased their system, or something similar? I have a 2006 C6, and I love the headlight system. I also have a 2002 C5. I can't believe the difference the HID in the C6 makes!

I have the ACA HID projectors on my 01 and they are well worth the cost. I got mine from TByrne Motorsports for a little less than 1k on sale and worth every penny. I'm sure they are the same units as I don't think there are any others out there.
Any additional feedback on this issue is greatly appreciated!
I would like the new system to light up the road similar to my 2006 C6.
I think the way to go is the complete system, instead of just changing bulbs in my existing lighting system. Now if I can just find the right price! So far they have ranged from $1,500+ to $899.
Since I am new at this, who is "not-mee" ?? And how do I communicate with him (her)?
I want to thank everyone who replied to my post. This is the first time I have ever posted an inquiry.

"Not-Mee" got into some trouble and ripped off a bunch of members on this site including me. He's banned from this site, but still in business.
It seems that Nate at Corvette Garage has the best deal going at the moment. I have made many purchases from Corvette Garage and they have great service.
I have also had great service from Tbyrne, however the kits he got had some problems, not faulting them in anyway and would do more business with Tbyrne as they have great service and prices, I just wouldn't chance the lights.

Could you PM me what happened with Not Mee? I purchased my HID kit from him and had no issues whatsoever. He even called me personally on more than one occassion to resolve questions I had. Better customer service from him than I've gotten from many other vendors here.

NTRBL33 is a supporting vendor on here and has a great HID Plug n Play system for the C5. It's not a lens housing change and a bunch of crazy wiring to figure out that takes 6 hours. It is a 30 min install and works awesome. And you can be back to stock in 30mins when you sell the car. Here is the post to check it out. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1596776

are they DOT Legal? That was our problem in NJ./ The inspection station failed my friend for not having DOT legal lights. Stinks because would have rather spent less money...

If you stay with 6000k or below should be no problem with inspections. Once you go up to the blue/purple is when they just look wierd. NTRBL33's conversion kit is bulb replacement so if your troubled with passing just switch out for your stock bulbs (takes 5 mins) and go to it then put back the HID's.
With plug and play systems its literaly as easy as changing the bulbs almost, you just have a little longer wire to disconect instead of just a bulb. Might take longer if you secured the ballast etc real well.

Here -- read it from SEMA (you do know who they are?):
NHTSA Lighting Enforcement: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) enforcement division is targeting HID conversion kits and replacement combination equipment (headlamps or taillamps) that do not have all required lighting functions. The agency has concluded that it is impossible to produce HID conversion kits (converting halogen lights to HID) that would be compliant with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108. NHTSA has issued at least two letters of interpretation that serve as notice to the industry. NHTSA believes this equipment presents a safety risk to the public since the kits can be expected to produce excessive glare to oncoming motorists and others. The noncompliant kits frequently include an HID bulb, ballast, igniter, relay and wiring-harness adapters. NHTSA is also seeking to identify replacement front or rear combination lighting equipment that have missing functions (reflector, amber or red light, etc.), no DOT marking, or mismarked wattage.
Not only do they not encourage it, they will come after you personally:
I have the HID Kit from Nate@CorvetteGararge and it works great. The installation wasn't that bad and Nate's kit comes with very clear instructions and a proper wire harness so you don't have to worry about it not working properly. Its definitely well worth the cost.
