Default Battery part number

I have decided to go with a Delco battery in my '99. My GM parts guy isn't sure of the part number and since the existing battery is an Interstate, that doesn't help. Does anyone know the current GM battery part number for a 99 / conv / air / 6speed?

Thanks, Barry

I can offer no real help, I just find it odd that a GM parts guy can not find out what battery came in a GM product

AC Delco site shows 78 series for the 99's

Interesting that it also shows either 75 or 78 series for the 1998 model year.

My 98 came with a 78 series Delco, and thats the same series I've used for replacements.

Honestly think either one fits fine.

Default Battery part number

Battery #78-H6YR is the warranty replacement for the leaking 75-P7YR.

This is a 10" battery vs. the 9" but fits fine.

We have a winner. The "H" in the part number just means that it has a handle on it. Other than that is is basically a group 78 series battery with a 6 year warranty.

May not be a dealership. There are lots of places that sell Delco parts.
