OK........How in the hell do you get these things to hook up???????????
I have tried every thing! :mad These are the 315's. I had almost as good 60' times with the run flats. The best I have ever gotten with these is a 1.83. I was expecting at least to be able to get into the 1.7's HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mods in the sig
Re: Nitto Drag Radials................ (Mag Red Monster)
i don't have the nitto's but i hear that in order to hook nitto's up you need a really REALLY long burn out. next time get BF goodrich. these are the best and i have no problem hooking with these. sometimes they do spin out on me but most of the time i hook.
Re: Nitto Drag Radials................ (Mag Red Monster)
I still say you need a Line Lock to preform a super burnout. That should help a lot. Last time I visited the track, they wanted you to limit it to 5 sec.

I don't think Mag Red has a problem with super burnout's :smash: :smash: :smash:  he's got that down pretty good. :D I say go with super glue.
Re: Nitto Drag Radials................ (Mag Red Monster)
I was wondering if you would do a topic on this. regardless of your 60' times you have one hell of a car and it was a pleasure watching you run as well as talking to ya'. hopefully you'll get those tires to hook and break under the 12.5's take care :seeya
I don't think there is any "miracle" tire. Maybe the ET Streets. I have spent the last couple of months trying to figure out my Nitto 315's. I had 245's before and picked up about 1 1/2" of width per tire. I have a line lock and do go long burnouts.
I was expecting the 315's to hook really good, but here is what I have found.
I have no problem with tire spin in 2nd or 3rd. I see other C5's spin really bad in 2nd with street tires.
The Nitto 315's allow me to launch at a somewhat higher RPM than the Nitto 245's and quite a bit higher than the EMT's. But the C5 has enough low end torque to spin almost any tire if you launch too hard. This is especially true for 6 speeds. The first few feet are really critical. Something has to slip. Either the tires start spinning ( guaranteed 2.0+ 60ft time) or the clutch has to slip.
If you have watched Bowery Boy's video's, you have seen two really good launches. The front of the car stays up, he doesn't spin the tires and he is gone.

Thanks lil buddy
Heationg them up ain't the problem...I do a good 10 sec burnout. I've tried all different air pressures, going around the water, going thru the water, different RPM launches........... :cry Nothing is working! :smash:  Gawd I wish I had kept the EMT's :yesnod: The next thing I'm going to try is the alignment. Does any one think it's maybe because I have too much tire gien my HP? Would 275's maybe have been a better tire?
Re: Nitto Drag Radials................ (Mag Red Monster)
FWIW, I'm struggling with the same problem on my 275's. The problem is too much horsepower for the tires. When running NA at about 330HP I run 27#'s and hookup pretty well with 12.6 et's at 109 +/-. On the hose putting down 430HP+, it doesn't matter what ap I run. I've tried everything from 15 to 35#'s and leaving the line with the N2O firing at launch I simply smoke the nittos. I'm going to a progressive controller and window switch to control the n2o feed at launch. The other option is to go to et streets or drags, but then you start getting high speed sway which is not good either, so you probably need to add skinnies up front with the et streets or drags. I'm trying to sell my 275/17/40 and 2000 17" wheels to go to either 315 nittos or bfg's, or et streets and skinnies if the bfg's won't hook. I think though, the progressive controller and window switch will do the trick, since the nittos hook up very well when I run na without the hose.
Thanks Bill.....there was a guy there with basically the same set up as me except he had the BFG's. He was consistantly in the 1.7's. I was just expecting Drag Radials, no matter which brand, would be some what better than the run flats.
Re: Nitto Drag Radials................ (Mag Red Monster)
I've used the 275's on my Vette, and I have the 315's on my Cobra. I think they are a step up form regular street tires, but they arent the end all traction worries tires for the track.... I will say this however, the 315's on my Cobra don't even break loose on the 1-2 shift anywhere... street or strip. The car has around 400rwhp too. My C5 went as quick as 12.82 at 110.8 on Nitto non drag radials, and the times below on the drag radials. Short times were very similar, but the 1-2 was much stickier w/ the DR's.
