first gear trouble
hello i have a 19000 miles on my car the first geaq is ginving me problems. it will downshift itself to netural while deaccelarting and its hard to go in first gear unless i go 2nd to 1st pls help thanks

Do you have an aftermarket shifter installed? If so, it maybe the adjustment on the stops. If not it sounds to be the fork when you place the trans in 1st and the decelerate it comes out of 1st it is not completely engaged. 2 possible cause other then the prior, shift fork is bent, syncro hub bad. There are other possible causes, but if you don’t have an aftermarket shifter the way you describe having to go into 2nd before you can get it into 1st sounds like the fork. Do you bang 2nd a lot??
