Default Chrome factory wheels?

I've searched but still confused. Did or does GM offer chrome factory wheels for 2000-2004 Vettes? If not, who are the companys who sells factory GM chrome wheels out right. Are they factory wheels that they take and chrome? The foreign wheels look good, but I don't think the quality is there. I believe my factory polished wheels are too pitted to be chromed. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

No. No chrome from the factory. Painted or polished.

I really like the looks of the factory wheels on my Vert, but I would like to have them in chrome.

Several places will do an exchange, where you buy factory chromed wheels, plus a hefty core and then send your wheels to get the core back.

I bought my 2004 convertible from a friend at work, he sent his factory wheels to California, (we are in Michigan), had them chromed, (they look great) I will try to find out where he sent them. He doesn't work in the same building anymore so I might have trouble finding him...bob.

Thanks, I'm afraid mine are too pitted for an exchange, but I guess its worth a try.

West Coast Corvette does the exhange. They have to polish the wheels anyway so yours may be OK. They are a supporting vendor. Give them a call.

I have a friend with an '02 Z06 that also claims his wheels were chromed from the factory. I wonder if it was a dealer controlled option, as his wheels are definitely chrome, not polished.

Have a good one,
Mike

Default chrome?

got ahold of my buddy out here (in Warren,Mi.) he said that he went to Discount Tire and they do the exchange, they send 4 rims at a time and twice, there was a defect when they came back, so they sent them back until all four were great, I know, Discount Tire?, I didn't believe it myself...........bob.

Same thing here. I bought my 2001 C5 in September of 2000 and the first day I took it to Discount Tire and initiated the exchange deal for Chrome Thin Spokes. Fronts came in and worked fine. Rears were both out-of-round - so had to reorder. Second set of rears were fine. All (4) are Speedline Forged wheels made in Italy (like my originals). Been running them every day for over 6 years - still look flawless. Back in 2000 the trade out was $1200 and they come with a 3-year warranty. Only down side is that once you have chrome wheels none of the exchange services I have found will entertain another exchange deal - they will not take a used chrome wheel as a core.

Just put triple chrome rims on my 00 vert. They look awesome. The company is OE(original concepts?) Anyway, you can see them by looking up "oe256c on the search line in yahoo. It takes you to a site that sells them. A speed shop here in ARK. ordered them for me. Also put in new wheel sensors since sensor life is about 7-8 years. Hop this helps.

Is OE a factory wheel or aftermarket? What was the cost? Did they balance OK? I'll look them up, but what I'm really looking for is the GM wheel chromed. Thanks!

OE is an aftermarket vendor that sells some of the better quality wheels from the Pacific. They are generally a bit heavier than factory, but tend to be of excellent quality for the money...

I believe they are out of Sarasota Florida.

Wheels balanced great with weights inner rim. I put 18x10.5 in rear and 17x9.5 in front and still be able to use original tires. They come with chrome center caps and chrome lug nut caps. Purchased center decals from ebay (decal specialists) 5 for 19.95 + ship. They are excellent quality. Total cost or rims 1K included mount, etc. you can use your same lug nuts. If vette is older than 5-6 years, would highly recomment new tire sensors. Hope this helps.

The dealer likely created a "Dealer Installed Option".
